In November 2016, Not One More Alabama (NOMA) began its journey as an organization to support families whose lives have been impacted by the disease of addiction. Eleven amazing women made up NOMA's initial Board of Directors and were soon joined by others willing to utilize their experience to help others. NOMA hit the ground running with education, awareness and compassion projects. NOMA quickly grew from a group of compassionate individuals who planned to provide dinners to families who were dealing with a loved-one's substance use disorder to a viable non-profit in the state of Alabama. NOMA was quickly recognized by national organizations like the Center for Motivation and Change who continue to provide training for NOMA Parent Coaches in our community; and the Partnership to End Addiction who has featured two board members in national awareness campaigns.

MISSION:

Not One More Alabama is a 501 C3 organization which provides support, education and inspiration to those impacted by addiction.

For too long, families have suffered in silence due to the stigma associated with substance use disorders. We have made it our mission to share our collective experiences to save others from walking this journey alone. Addiction is a family disease. Our goal is to help those struggling with substance use disorders and lift them and their loved ones to a place of recovery and peace. This will only be accomplished by connecting as a community to utilize all available resources including, but not limited to city/state/national leaders, the media, health and mental health care institutions, and social networking sites. We strive to be a role model for others in our country to follow, as we stand united, as a community to say..

Not One More overdose. Not One More lost spirit. Not One More grieving heart.

CURRENT PROGRAMS:

NOMA currently offers the following prevention and recovery services to individuals impacted by a substance use disorder in Madison county, and across the state of Alabama:

  • Grief Workshop held every other year to families across Alabama

  • Recovery fellowship events and activities - Sober softball team, Recovery at the River

  • End Addiction Walk, held annually each August in Big Spring Park

  • Education, Awareness and Outreach events - Each year NOMA hosts the Angel Tree dedicated to those lost to addiction and overdose and in 2023 NOMA added a Tree of Hope, honoring those in recovery

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN:

NOMA is launching a Capital Campaign to raise funding for the development of a new recovery community center in Huntsville. NOMA has been generously gifted a 7,500+ square foot building located just off Memorial Parkway and Bob Wallace Avenue (formerly Monarch Bowling Lanes). It will provide a safe and healthy sober space for individuals and their families to connect, access resources and thrive in recovery. All funds raised from this tournament will contribute to the facility's development.
